Qash in Phobia.

Capsuleer report 19122011-1

Killboard Review: qash.griefwatch.net
Battleclinic rated 57,843th

Been working with our new German friends, Brothers of Destiny. We joined their Alliance, Phobia. to increase numbers online and they seem to have the same policies about playing eve as Drama Llama.
So far, so good.

What this has done for me (Jonie) is moved fleets start-up in more EU timezone. So I can do more. There are still some later, so I can have two fleets-ups a night. Also BoD have a working relationship with a PL corp SniggWaffe, which works to create opportunities for a fight with their Sov Warfare and when there isn't anyone, we fight each other.

Qash on ISK (invention)

Capsuleer report 29112011-1

Killboard Review: qash.griefwatch.net
Battleclinic rated 64,931th (slipping - due to being ill)

Not been as active as I would like, stuck in station ill, 'pod flu'.

Anyway I've started to cost up my invention (hulks).

Started with changing my PI to produce 'Construction Blocks'
Had 4x Convetor BPC and some de-cryptors for the invention process
Collected my Datacores from the research agents

Run the four invention jobs and 25 hrs later, 2x hulk bpc, 50% successful not the best I have seen before, but about right if I use an Invention Chance Calculator which gave me between 24 and 26% chance per attempt (dependant on the de-cryptor).

This works out to around =17,300.000 per hulk BPC

I had to purchase the Morphite and the Convetors (could save isk by mining maybe next time)

I have the BPO's for the R.A.M Starship Tech and parts to manufacture the two Hulks, now I have to buy the parts (this will depend on market prices to see if I buy the finish goods or the use my BPO's, this can make a big difference)

So far the cost = 84,010,000 isk (plus 1.5 hours)
But as I had the BPCs, datacores and decryptors in stock real cost to me has been = 35,350,000 isk.

So this is already starting to point to PvE (missions Level 4) being more profitable plus selling the datacores, but let me finish. So far I have only spent 1.5 hours of game time on this.

Note to Self - Writing down industrial costing, is showing me the marginal profits I'm making, or not! I will finish and sell these Hulks and work out the cost per hour. Then run Level 4 missions in my Golem + sell the Datacore researched over the same period and compare.

Qash on ISK for PvP

Capsuleer report 16112011-1

Killboard Review: qash.griefwatch.net
Battleclinic rated 64,282th

Hardest thing I've found in Eve is making enough isk to continue to pew pew.

I'm running a Trader Alt, but it just doesn't make me enough isk, to live off, more time on alt, equals more isk, equals less PvP time :(

I have looked at inventing, making and selling Hulks, that made me about two plex worth of isk, in a month, nice, but to tell the truth the amount of time I have spent doing this, I suspect I could of run missions to make the same amount.

So to prove this, I'm going to start the cycle of invention off again to make the hulks. As invention is fairly easy to run in the background, research agents etc. I'll keep a log of costs, time, etc. once I've sold the hulk(s) I'll then spent the same time PvE and compare.

Qash a Drama

Capsuleer report 07112011-1

Killboard Review: qash.griefwatch.net
Battleclinic rated 67679th, (lowsec roamer)

Flying the Pilgrim this past week. No as good as a Curse but can be used in a Black Ops Drop.

Got in a fight in Low Sec Renarelle (0.3), For the loss of a Rapier, got an Astarte, Cyclone, Drake 2x Harbinger, cane also there was a pod kill so big sec status loss for someone in the corp. I dropped over 2 pts. I can say that the reason the corp does well is the FC is great and many we engage just don't seem to be organised.

Also been on a suicide BC roam, (in a Nano Cane) there was to be no coming back, which proved the point that good FC and correct fleet organisation wins.

First engagement, we hit another BC roam, with Scimitar support, but without a loss held the field in 5-D82P. 15 (Llama) losses 0 - 11 (Fatal Ascension) losses 9+1 pod

End engagement we hit a defending 0.0 fleet BC, HIC, Scimitar support, ECM, cmd ship, Rapier and Lachesis, in OW-TPO 14 (Llama) losses 14 + 6 pods 18 (Executive outcomes) losses 0. But I wish I recorded comms I haven't heard some many guys laugh as we died.
I noticed that the onyx didn't get on my killmail, (didn't run so his bubble doesn't count :), but it did get the guys pods

Logistics 5 completed, corp Skill requirement DONE.

Qash Flying a Huginn

Capsuleer report 28102011-1

Killboard Review: qash.griefwatch.net
Battleclinic rated 71,823th,

Flying the huginn this past week. Had fun, nothing fancy fitted just t2 stuff. But having two different experiences:

Fleet 1) HAC roam, fast and was great, as we engaged a fleet in S-U8A4, even numbers both sides. But total killmail feast. With Sleipnir, Drake, Cane x3, Scimitar + tackle, kills for no loss, mainly due to our logistical support.

Fleet 2) BS roam, slower also perhaps we were alittle braver, taking on a 'lone' Dominix which was a cyno for a hot drop, but for the corp losses got the Domi and a Thanatos.

Skill plan changes AGAIN :) the corp requires more Logistics pilots and need the Logi skill to be Lvl5, so as I have Lvl 4, training it to Lvl 5 should be finished early November.

Note to Self - Corp Skill plan requirement, OVERHEAT (still not doing this)...

Qash in Black Op

Capsuleer report 21102011-1

Killboard Review: qash.griefwatch.net
Battleclinic rated 75,590th,

First Black Ops fleet I have run in, two kills, first time flying a Pilgram.

The only comments I have when cloaked in a fleet, don't move around, you WILL bump into someone. Also 'bombs' will still blow you up :) even if cloaked.

I enjoyed the experience although I didn't have as much fun as flying in the standard skirmish fleet setups, the corp is running.

I have been reviewing my skills plan, I have been training some skills not really required, doh!, so I'm pushing up the plan the corp suggested skills. Basically I need to fly a battleship with T2 guns, which I can't now until mid November.

Note to Self - Skill plan update, OVERHEAT (still not doing this)...

Qash In a Curse

Capsuleer report 17102011-1

Killboard Review: qash.griefwatch.net
Over 300 kills
Battleclinic rated 75,935th,

Flying is small fleets is fun, better than the blobs normally in found in 0.0 also able to fly some shinny ships. All that skill training on different ships is now put to use.

At last have a kill in my curse, Gate camping in Providence, when a Domi jumped to the gate we where on. At the time thought nice kill, also upgraded my Cap Boosters to Navy ones from the loot.

Then 35 minutes later, the same guy in another Domi jumps to the same gate and yes, another kill mail what was he thinking. Oh! well!

Had a few Dramiel/Daredevil/Dictor roams, not much joy, best fun was a Thanatos, logging off as we entered system, only for the Dictor to bubble before the emergency warp kicked in and stop the Carrier. But with about 25% structure it disappeared, next time more ammo and bigger guns, lol.

Although the dps ships are fun I'm steering myself to more support based ships.

Note to Self - Support ship, buy more...

Qash New Home

Capsuleer Report 06102011-1

Moved Home been accepted into 'Drama Llamas'

Providence PvP corp - Anti-blob warfare. The corp entry process was different, but to get acceptance made you really want to join.

So far I like everyone I have flown with

I'm at the moment on 0.0 in my cane logged off. Why?
I join the fleet as soon as I could and moved into 0.0 which was camping a system. When one of the fleet was hot-dropped in his safe.
Talk about being thrown in at the deep end. I forgot how on-your toes you need to be. Anyway not complaining this is what I want from EVE.

I have a new skill training plan to fit in with the Corp fleets, nothing I wasn't expecting. I need to do some shopping to get the gear local but it has removed some of the cobwebs that had started to appear. Just need to get my first Kill.

I have been flying the Vengeance, slow but great tank. I have two setups, Microwarpdrive long range point, and the flying brick.

Really only any good in a fleet, and the long point has been the most useful.

Also I have trained up the Thorax, again this is a nice Gank ship.

Qash On Boosters

Capsuleer report 11042011-2
Kirith Darkblade Blog for the Full Guide (below is my annotated version)

What is a Booster and what does it do? They work exactly like temporary implants.

Each booster uses a booster slot:
Slot 1: Tanking in some way.
Slot 2: Turret boosting.
Slot 3: Missiles.
At any given time, you can have up to 3 boosters active (1 per slot).

The types are:
Synth: Very little bonus (3%), no side effect and legal in highsec.
Standard: Best price/performance ratio, most popular. (20% side effect)
Improved: A lot more expensive than standards, it is also more powerful. (30% side effect)
Strong: Very pricey (40% side effect)

The flavors are:
Exile: It boosts the effectiveness of armor repairers. They repair more per cycle (they don't cycle faster, so it doesn't use more capacitor).
Possible side effects:
- Total armor hitpoints reduction
- Maximum capacitor reduction
- Turret tracking reduction
- Bigger missile explosion radius
Summary: Active armor tanked ships, it doesn't work very well on hybrid tanks (buffer and repairer).

Blue Pill: It boosts the effectiveness of shield boosters. They boost more per cycle (they don't cycle faster, so it doesn't use more capacitor).
Possible side effects:
- Maximum shields hitpoints reduction
- Maximum capacitor reduction
- Turret optimal range reduction
- Slower missile explosion velocity
Summary: Active shield tanked ships.

Mindflood:It increases your maximum capacitor. Due to the way capacitor (and shields, by the way) works, having more maximum capacitor means that it recharges more GJ per second, even if it takes the same time to go from 0% to 100%.
Possible side effects:
- Shield boosting reduction
- Bigger missile explosion radius
- Turret optimal range reduction
- Armor repairing reduction
Summary: A shield buffer tanked ship using projectile weapons won't suffer from a side effect at all. Will be able to run the MWD or neut during a lot longer! Logistics ships benefit a lot from it, too.

X-Instinct: It reduces the signature radius of your ship.
Possible side effects:
- Maximum armor reduction
- Maximum shields reduction
- Turret falloff range reduction
- Bigger missile explosion radius
Summary: It reduces a lot of drone and missile dps and also makes it even harder to hit a tackling interceptor. Armor tanked logistics sometimes use it along with an afterburner.

Drop: It increases turret tracking.
Possible side effects:
- Maximum shields reduction
- Armor repairing reduction
- Turret falloff range reduction
- Maximum ship velocity reduction
Summary: It is a must have for any turret battleship. The side effects can be annoying for shield and active armor setups, but a buffer armor fitted ship won't be affected at all.

Frentix: It increases turret optimal range.
Possible side effects:
- Shield boosting reduction
- Maximum armor reduction
- Turret tracking reduction
- Maximum ship velocity reduction
Summary: Perfect for sniping ships, it lets you use higher damage ammo or sit further out. Drop booster works better at closer ranges.

Sooth Sayer: It increases turret falloff range.
Possible side effects:
- Armor repairing reduction
- Maximum shields reduction
- Turret optimal range reduction
- Maximum ship velocity reduction
Summary: Not many sniping ships fight in falloff (apart from the Muninn: 50% optimal and 50% falloff), but no side effect can affect buffer armor fitted ships, so it is a very good alternative to Drop, depending on how you use your projectile based ships.

Crash: It reduces missile explosion radius.
Possible side effects:
- Shield booting reduction
- Maximum ship velocity reduction
- Missile velocity reduction
- Maximum armor reduction
Summary: This one acts as a free Target Painter. It turns your Heavy Assault Missiles (HAMs) into Heavy Missiles and Heavy Missiles into Assault Missiles when it comes to hitting smaller ships, while retaining all the damage from the bigger missiles.

How can I use them? Skills
There's 3 skills that are related to boosters:
1) Biology: Lets you use boosters and extends the duration time by 20% per level. Biology at level 1 to use synth and standard boosters. It generally takes 7 minutes to train. You need Biology 2 for Improved and 3 for Strong boosters.
2) Nanite Control: It is a very expensive skillbook and it isn't mandatory at all. It reduces the severity of side effects.
2) Neurotoxin Recovery: Requires Nanite Control 1. Reduces the chance to get side effects.

To use a booster:Right-click on it and hit Consume.
It is now active. You can see the remaining time under Augmentations in your character sheet.
Qash Summary:

I manufactured these at a Wormhole PoS. There are profits, just have to wait a while. I made these cost-neutral with 1 in every 3 boosters manufactured going to corp members for free.

In 0.0/Wormholes, I carried 'Standard boosters', very rarely had an side effects and used them as suggested above, so never noticed. (The Blue Pill has saved me from a podding a couple of times, in my Sleipnir).
In Highsec I carry 'Synth boosters' not used that often, only once when in PvE I agro'd a whole room and this enabled me to tank it enough to warp out. Noob :(

Note to Self - All bloggers carry on your good work.

Qash Goal.....not long too go

Capsuleer report 10032011-2
Goal: to increase my standing to gain overall +0.1 on all Empire Factions. Well If I include skills than Amarr is all that is left. :)

Running lvl4 mission in Caldari, Minmatar and Amarr corps.

Still need Advanced Weapon Upgrade V and Caldari Battleships V but with most of my missile skills are 4 or 5 can use T2 torpedos, for the Golem.

Just discovered that I haven't any of the Connection skills, so these need a look at, increase in loyalty points payout.

Also as a side note I also need another Research agent. As my Inventions - trying the Hulk, can be costly. (I'd say at this time I'm getting 1 in 3 bpc, normal, reading the forums). Hulkageddon helped raise the Hulk prices for a bit, but it never lasts.

Note to Self - Golem, Golem, Goooooalemmm. Skills take ages at level 5 to train :)

Qash And Corp

Capsuleer report 24022011-1
Goal: Increasing my standings to gain overall +0.1 on all Empire Factions.
Q.V I'm loving this corp. Running Level 4 missions raising my standings with other members, going well. There has even been talk of running Incursions with the Alliance all big ticks, this has me buzzing again, to the point I'm spending hours on eve (20+ in the last 7 days).
Last night was fun, the corp ran a Frigate fight. T1 Frig, Meta 3 max modules, T1 ammo, no rigs.
I turned up in a Rifter, what fun, I got 2 kills before flying my pod :). The winner has a reward of a Battlecrusiers of their choose (they went for a Drake, no surprise).
Running mission again has been fun. I need to salvage and loot to make the isk bonuses in running Missions. Just speed running missions, mainly running Amarr lvl2 at the moment before my stands get good enough.
Caracal CN (for Lvl2), as I have one.
Tengu for corp mission fleets (I love this ship)
But for solo Lvl4 I need to get a Golem, but my skills are lacking. So I'm going to get a Rattlesnake until I have the skills. Question has been Torps or Cruise? I haven't decided as yet.

Note to Self - Eve has me hooked again (good corp helps, thanks Q.V) :)

Qash Moved Again

Capsuleer report 17022011-1

Now member of:
Quantum Visionworks [Q.V]

Why the move you may ask?

Well I was hoping to run Incursion sites with a group and build up our team working skills. But there wasn't many online at the same time as myself. So I started looking elsewhere.

After being excepted into Q.V I have already ran in a corp fleet op, ok only mining (in an Orca). But we chatted, a little banter and getting to know you chat. All good.

I'm having to move to Amarr/Caldari space, but as one of my goals is to increase my Empire Faction standings to 0 for all, this will help.

PI - started up my Nanite Repair Paste manufacture again, the new PI changes seem to of made it easier to produce the Paste, from start picking planets to producing the first couple of runs for market less than 48 hours.

Level 1 missions are fun, fitting T1 frigates to speed run these great. Hopefully not too long before lvl2 mission agents become available.

Note to Self - happier now :)

Qash On Incursion (Motherships)

Capsuleer report 07022011-1

I'm on a high. Incursion has rasied my game.
Mainly in shield fleets as (logisitics) with many players I have ran with before.
1 out of 3 Motherships sites earned rewards. Armour fleets seem to fair better than shields, suspect due to the dps output. (Lost a Basilisk in one, thanks to all who gave isk to help in the replacement).
  • Max fleet 80
  • LPS 7800
  • 32 million ISK
  • Competing against other fleets
The last one I ran our fleet didn't get the reward but I understand that the Phantasm BPC (15 run) drop was picked up by one in the fleet. :) How much is this worth, think about it, nice drop, in Hi Sec, imaging this in Low Sec.

HQ site (the rewards nearly as good as the mothership, but not competing with anyone)
  • Max Fleet 40-50 (logi 8-10)
  • LPS 7000
  • 30 million ISK
  • Need BS(20) and BC(10)
Vanguard (You can ran many of these in smaller fleets)
  • Max Fleet 11 (3 logi)
  • LPS 2000
  • 10 million ISK
  • Need BC(3) BS (4) + hacking (1 interceptor/frigate)
What do I want from the corp:
  1. Run in fleets as a Corp when Incursions are up, everyone can see what.
  2. When no Incursions, run Missions L4/5 in fleets, work together, to bring anyone along to help with fleet mechanices
  3. Setup some kind of Ship Replacement Program. Therefore miners can support the corp, as we always need Ore. The production of ammo and ships can't be that hard (well I can production T1 ships and ammo myself, well I do).
  4. HAVE FUN :)

Note to Self - Play more :)

Qash on New Corp for Incursion Sansha Nation

Capsuleer report 01022011-1
So I have made contact with a new corp to join to look at the PVE Incursion Sansha Nation Invasion.
The hardest thing has been to find a corp within my timezone (UK) with the similiar goals as myself.

Hopefully I have found one, tell you more once I'm a member. Only a couple of members at the moment but sounds exactly what I want. So I have released my present roles (24hr timer started).

Well update you as time goes on.

Qash on RL

The 24th EVE Blog Banter (January 2011 Edition) - Topic: EVE and Real Life

Welcome to the twenty-fourth installment of the EVE Blog Banter, the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by CrazyKinux. The EVE Blog Banter involves an enthusiastic group of gaming bloggers, a common topic within the realm of EVE Online, and a week or so to post articles pertaining to the said topic. The resulting articles can either be short or quite extensive, either funny or dead serious, but are always a great fun to read! Any questions about the EVE Blog Banter should be directed to crazykinux@gmail.com. Check for other EVE Blog Banter articles at the bottom of this post!

This month's Banter topic comes to us from the ever helpful Eelis Kiy, capsuleer behind the "Where the frack is my ship" blog. She asks: How does your real life personality compare to who you are as a character in EVE? Does a good leader of people in the real world make a good leader of pilots in game? Or vice-versa? Do your real-life skills help you with the roles you fulfill in your corporation or alliance? Or do you behave completely differently? Does the anonymity of the Internet allow you to thrive on the tears of others in New Eden whilst you work as a good Samaritan away from your keyboard? Or are you as mean outside of your pod as you are inside it? Have experiences in EVE Online affected your behavior, skills or attitudes outside of the game?

EVE is great, but Real life, can sometime take over. Qash has been quiet lately, as in RL I have just become a new father. I'm over-the-moon, also wanting to help out as much as I can, my EVE-widow. So I have kept up-to-date with the EVE universe but kept in the background, logging in only to change skills and read mails.

But now as the new routine has stablised in RL, more EVE game time I have.

Thanks all.

Qash on Epic Arc (SoE)

Capsuleer report 31012011-1
Ran the SoE (Lvl 1) Epic Arc missions, great fun, needed to boost me Amarr fraction Standing to above
-5.0 which this has done. I did cheat used my Sabre, but after not using a small ship for sometime enjoyed the run.

I'm looking at Incursion: Sansha's Nation, would like to experience this so looking for a new corp, to run this.
So I have checked the recruitment forums. Let you know the outcome.
